ALBUM REVIEW

ROBYN
Body Talk Pt. 1

Yes! Another Robyn album to get lost to! I don't think I keep it much of a secret, I love this girl. I can remember wailing away to "Show Me Love" back in the 90's in the back of my mom's minivan with my brother and sister.

If you remember liking her then, you'll like her even more now.

Robyn's taken an great route with a mix of powerful lyrics, dance beats, alternative rock roughness and her cute little accent.

Body Talk Pt.1 is her newest album (which is ALMOST as good as her 2008 release: Robyn) to hit the shelves (a phrase that sadly doesn't really mean much anymore). It's like a fun punch in the face. I find it completely fresh and entertaining from beginning to end. From "Don't Fucking Tell Me What To Do" to her little Swede ballad "Jeg vet en dejlig rosa" it's a sickly sweet alternative pop rock dance trip. And yes, it's possible to be all those things, and hers is smartly so.

Her first single "Dancing On My Own" is doing fairly well it seems. Playing in clubs, bars and every so often on the radio here in NY. It's a great emotional shove and caters to those of us who, sadly know the feeling of being aggravated and alone near the one we love. Bam. I love it.

I think her next single should be, if it hasn't already been announced - I'm a little behind on things having just received my new computer - should be "Cry When You Get Older". I think it's got a good radio friendly beat and chorus to it. It also has a great backbone and could be remixed a million ways, always a plus nowadays with people only buying one track off an album on iTunes or Amazon.

If you like Body Talk Pt.1, be excited... because it's part of a 5 part series. This is just the first installment of a Robyn take over which, I'm sure will dominate our ears and lives for the next year or so. I don't mind. Not one bit. Her first single off of Pt.2 is apparently "Hang With Me," which appears on Pt.1 in acoustic form. It's great. The actual singles already leaked online.

Another reason to be excited? She's touring the Kelis. Kelis has recently released a new album which goes back to her alt. roots... you should forgive her for "Milkshake" and give her a new look. I guarantee you've already heard one of her new songs and I'll bet you like it.
Either way, the two of them together should be something else. Sadly all of their New York shows have sold out, but if you'd like to join me in the Craigslist quest for tickets, that's where I'll be the day of the show.

Watch and enjoy... (please note that she's singing live, and it sounds awesome... unlike most current popular musicians)
